During the year 2009-2010, a total of 54627 passenger trains were run on the Metre Gauge in the Eastern Zone, (Passenger 52437 and Mixed 2190) & a total of 14277 Passenger train were run in the Western Zone, (Passenger 11357 and mixed 2920). They covered a total of 7736680 train kilometres, run in the Eastern Zone (Passenger 7624260 and Mixed 112420) and a total of 2,517399 train kilometres run in the Western Zone, (Passenger 2227229 and Mixed 240170). These figures do not include 584 and 508 departmental train kilometres run in the Eastern & Western Zone respectively. The passenger proportion of Mixed train kilometrage was 102090 in the Eastern Zone and that on the Western Zone was 152400 while the goods proportion of mixed train kilometres was 10330 in the Eastern zone & that on the Western Zone was 87770 Year-wise position is indicated below:-
