During the year 2008-2009, a total of passenger trains were run on the Metre Gauge in the Eastern Zone with and average of 20.5 coaching vehicles, (Intercity 28.9, Mail Express 17.7 and local 10.4 and 0.02 freight wagons) and a total of passenger train were run on the Metre Gauge in the Western Zone an average of 15.9coaching vehicles, (Intercity 18.8, Mail & Express 16.0 and local 12.2 and 0.82 freight wagons. The total kilometrage travelled by the coaching vehicles on the Metre Gauge in the Eastern Zone 158207204, (Intercity 89785063 Mail Express 50973351,011 and local 17448790and in the Western Zone 39454971 (Intercity 21845454 Mail & Express 6212376 and local 11397141). These figures do not include 18091 and 9320 coaching vehicle kilometres run on departmental account in the Eastern & Western Zone respectively. Year-wise position is indicated below:-
